Before there was the blog the Caretaker sent out posts via e-mail, the following is from the Caretaker's second winter on the Island:

Hey Gang, hope all are well and keeping warm.
Life's good on the Island so far.
If all goes well there will be a photo attached to this e-mail, it was taken today of the ice that formed last night. If the wind stops, the lake may actually freeze over in the next few days.
Please forward this e-mail to any one who might be interested.
If this does work and should people be interested, I will try to e-mail a photo a day to all those who would like to see one. If there are other's whose e-mail address is not listed with this e-mail and would like to get a photo a day from the Island, please send me their e-mail addresses.
My conection is very, very sloooooooow. So, upload time takes a long time, because of this, it may not work this time around.

P.S. Outside air temp. @ 12:00 p.m. 6 degrees F. Ghetto Temp. 60 degrees F. Sunny, some clouds, wind from the North, 10 to 15 mph, gusting up to 30 at times.
